  • Partner with Financial Reporting to support consolidated financial statement preparation, internal reporting packages, technical accounting review, and audit requirements without directly owning the Financial Reporting function.

Technical Accounting, GAAP, and Controls

  • Serve as a key accounting resource for technical accounting matters impacting accounting operations, including revenue recognition inputs, project cost accounting, cost of goods sold, labor application, accruals, reserves, intercompany activity, and other complex accounting areas.
  • Support the company’s continued transition toward more disciplined GAAP-based accounting practices by ensuring accounting operations are aligned with current methodologies, policies, and controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, checklists, and internal controls across the enterprise.
  • Identify and correct process gaps, control weaknesses, inconsistent accounting practices, and recurring errors.
  • Partner with Financial Reporting, external auditors, and advisors to support audit readiness, technical accounting analysis, and annual audit requirements.

Project Accounting and Operations Partnership

  • Partner closely with operations, project management, manufacturing, and finance leadership to improve project accounting discipline, cost visibility, and financial performance across a project-based business.
  • Support accurate accounting for project revenue inputs, cost of goods sold, cost-to-complete estimates, pending and approved change orders, accruals, applied labor, gross margin, and work-in-process activity.
  • Help ensure project-based accounting is consistent, timely, and useful for business decision-making.
  • Work with operations and FP&A to improve forecasting support, backlog-related inputs, project review processes, margin analysis, and variance explanations.
  • Promote consistent accounting treatment across entities, locations, cost centers, and project teams.

Systems, Process Improvement, and Oracle Implementation

  • Partner with finance and IT leadership to support the company’s Oracle implementation and continued improvement of financial systems.
  • Help define accounting workflows, close processes, account structures, reporting inputs, controls, and process requirements within the ERP environment.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, reduce duplication, improve data integrity, and create scalable accounting practices.
  • Lead or support finance transformation initiatives that improve the accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness of accounting information.
  • Ensure accounting processes are designed to support both current business needs and future growth.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with FP&A, Financial Reporting, treasury, tax, IT, legal, operations, and executive leadership to support sound business decisions.
  • Provide practical accounting guidance to business leaders while maintaining appropriate controls, discipline, and consistency.
  • Communicate accounting issues clearly and professionally to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.
